​Ren’s sword rested on a stand atop Petra’s desk. It had been two days since his death and the whole army was feeling the shock. A man who had once seemed untouchable now rested in the unjust clutches of death. Then again Petra thought is the death of any one of these soldiers fair? She sat in the darkness of her office, the only light emitting from a small lamp that sat on her desk, providing just enough light to see to the edge. Her steepled fingers pressed against her lips as she pondered the Rebellion’s next move. Just for a minute she wished Ren was there. He would have known what to do. He would have known where to go, how to precede, how to move forward. She closed her eyes, deep in thought. She heard a rustle near the direction of the door.

​In a secluded corner of Queen Amelda's palace, Ahlogneir, Antlousai, Jaa, Meldontha, Novaci, and Toryna appeared. They hadn't been there long when a portal opened near them. Out of the portal flew a small book. After the portal spewed out its content, the portal closed as quickly as it had opened. The book landed at the feet of Toryna. Toryna picked it up and opened it. The book was a small, leather-bound journal with a brown string wrapped around it.

​Pandora's treader thundered across the dried and cracked wasteland as the sunlight retreated under the advance of night. Merc and Lacea trailed behind her on their own vehicles as they returned to the bunker they called home. The band had set up their base in the northeastern sectors of the desert, here long dead rivers wound their dried veins through the clay and spires of stone loomed overhead like titanic fossils. These dry riverbeds provided a natural layer of protection for Pandora's crew as it interrupted the relatively flat terrain with steep banks and maze-like channels.
