Chronicles of Lormere, Chapter Three: A Winged Rendezvous

Collection: Submissions/Lormere - Guest Chronicle by Ghasty

The silhouetted figure watched as the portal slowly closed. She turned and walked a few paces while making sure she wasn't observed. She carried a bow with her fashioned from blackwood with topazolite gemstones socketed within. She also had a quiver strung across her back. This quiver was made from tanned leather and it held arrows tipped with obsidian arrowheads. The feathers at the other end of the arrows were those of crows. She had six wings which seemed to be made of shadows. She unfolded these wings and flew to the top of a nearby building while making no sound.

"You have done well Diasdera," said an eerie voice. A second creature stood on the roof of the building. This creature was named Cyjovin. This creature, like Diasdera, was a revenant. He was sent to protect Vyjorst Forest and its inhabitants, but he became corrupted. He then convinced Diasdera, the revenant of Lormere and its surrounding caverns, towards joining him.
He had somewhat of an odd appearance. He too had six wings, but these were made from branches and leaves. This was due to the time he had spent in Vyjorst Forest. His body was composed mostly of camelthorn wood. His hands and feet resembled roots. He didn't have eyes but instead had sockets with two firefly-like lights. He was bald. He wore armor fashioned from bloodwood. The chest piece had a sheath on the backside. This sheath held a sword fashioned from rosewood with a solitary uvarovite gemstone in the center of the hilt.
"How can I not with the Gorynxil on my side," she responded. As if on cue, a Gorynxe slithered up onto the roof. It was a hideous creature with the tentacles, and mouth of a squid. The body was similar in shape to that of a human. The body was composed of slime with stones throughout. The Gorynxe's mouth opened and closed with a series of clicks. Diasdera understood the seemingly random clicks.
"Excellent, you may tell your people they are free to inhabit these caverns. They need not be confined to the lower caves anymore," replied Diasdera. The Gorynxe slithered back down the side of the building while the Gorynxil on the ground waited in anticipation. Excited clicks echoed throughout the cavern at the announcement of the news. Diasdera and Cyjovin turned around before discussing their next target.
"We must rally an army. The Gorynxil will never survive out in the sunlight. If we wish to eradicate all humans, we must first trick the humans we want to recruit, they need to believe what they are doing is benefitting themselves," Cyjovin said.
"I think I might know the perfect group to recruit. I shall depart at once to recruit them," Diasdera said assuredly. Diasdera unfolded her six wings again and soared from the top of the building.
Later that day a black figure was seen flying from Lormere to Wildepond and landing in front of the jailhouse. It entered the jailhouse and exited shortly after followed by five bandits. The figure uttered an incantation causing the jailhouse to become engulfed in flames. They were seen walking into Vyjorst Forest but were not followed due to fear. We can only assume whom that figure was and the bandits that followed it. A tree was also noted to have uprooted itself near where they entered. It then walked into the forest after them.
