Collection: the Halleaux/Alternative Reality Chronicled by: Ren The net morning Petra sat at the end of the table in the conference room. The table was ringed with Daphne, Mira, Mech, Marius, five of The Six including Altair (who was healing remarkably well), and Mech’s assistant Gabrielle. “Okay everybody’s here, we’re just waiting on Ren” Petra said As if on cue the door flew open with a bang and Ren swept inside dressed in his red armor, his cloak billowed behind him. “Shut the door” he growled at Marius Marius, thinking it would be best not to argue, walked swiftly to the door and shut it.
“You filthy, lying, miserable excuse for a human being.” He was breathing heavily, as though his rage was controlled but barely. “Ren, what, what are you talking about” Mira stuttered “You’re the spy, don’t play games with me. I know for a fact. I went back in time and I tracked you down. I saw you shoot Daphne, I saw you slash the guard in an attempt to get away, I saw you return to my quarters where to hid your gear under the dresser. I saw it all.” Ren was beginning to lose his patience “Okay, alright, I’m the spy, but I didn’t have a choice, they threatened to imprison me if I didn’t” Mira said reasonably “Then you should have died in prison! It would have been better to die a bloody hero than to die a traitor!” Mira slipped sideways out of her chair in surprise. In an attempt to get away from Ren she backed up against the wall “But I was scared” Mira gasped “I don’t care!” Ren roared “You sold us all out. Your friends, your tribe, and me. How much are they paying you, what did they promise you in return?” Mira was finding it difficult to speak with her face stuck in a corner. “Box...silver...name….wall of heros” she managed Ren patted her down and pulled a dagger and a revolver from her belt, tossing them on the table. He pulled a pair of handcuffs from his belt and slapped them around her wrists. He pulled her off the wall and pushed her back into her seat. “A box of silver!” Ren screamed “ You stabbed everyone who ever gave the slightest amount of care about you in the back for a box of silver and a bloody piece of metal with your name on it stuck on a wall? You were family Mira, I cared about you, Iwatched your six. We were family ever since the day you looked me in the eye and said ‘I want him as my protector’. How could you do this? You know what they did to me, to my family, to my brother. You saw first hand what they were capable of and you decide to help them?” Mira ‘s eyes dilated with fear. “I wish execution was allowed here. I wish I could make you suffer daily for your crimes, each day a new and fresh reminder of what you’ve done. But unfortunately, you only have one worthless, miserable life to give. But it’s mine, it’s owed to me, and I intend to collect what is owed. Death is not the way of Haven. But then again I AM NOT HAVEN! Everything that has happened over the past three years. Gone. GONE Mira. Gone so you could pretend to be a hero. So you could feel like you made a difference in the world without having to sacrifice the creature comforts you so love. I hope you’re happy, I hope that you love the world you helped create. Because you’re about to die in it.” Petra stood dumbstruck, not quite sure what to do, but she finally seemed to understand Ren’s intent. Ren lifted the revolver from the table. “Marius, Mech, help!” Petra shouted Together Marius and Mech managed to shove Ren aside as he pulled the trigger. The bullet misfired into the wall, Ren’s head hit the corner of the table and he passed out. Ren woke up sitting in a chair at the table in his room. He went to stand but found he couldn’t. His arms and legs were bound to the chair through us of what appeared to be handcuffs. On the table sat a remote with a single button with a note. Press this when you wake up- Petra. Ren couldn’t help but smile, it was like Petra to create irony in even the most serious of situations. Ren picked up the remote and pressed the button. After about five minutes the door opened and Petra walked in flanked by two guards. “How’s your head feeling?” she asked “Fine, I guess” Ren was taken aback at the causality of her question. “Then what were you thinking?” she screamed “Trying to kill her? She deserves punishment yes, but she should have been brought to trial and punished by the laws of the Haven Fighters, not by Ren trying to take justice into his own hands.” “Would it help if I said I was sorry?” Ren asked earnestly “No, because I still have to deal with a full scale siege on this base in forty eight hours.” She ranted “No you don’t, last night I cracked Mira’s computer and sent a message that Michael Ren had left Haven and the siege was no longer necessary. They are only sending a small force to check and make sure the information is correct. You’re welcome” Ren spoke quietly “You are hereby considered mentally unstable, uncontrollable, unpredictable, unfit for service, and are thus confined to your quarters.” Petra said “that takes care of official business” Ren’s face was a blank mask “Ren, what happened back there?” She asked “Ren, Michael, commander, Identification Number: 20815, code name: Sandman” Ren spoke in monotone “Please, I want to help you” “Ren, Michael, commander, Identification Number: 20815, code name: Sandman” was the only reply Petra sighed and pulled a key from her jacket. She quickly unlocked the handcuffs and placed his laptop down on the table. “You can have this as long as to agree to two conditions: One, you don’t hack into anything and trigger a full scale weapons assault on the Authority. Two, you don’t attempt to break out of this room, agreed?” Ren nodded slowly “Good, you will be brought food three times a day. Press the button on the remote if you need me.” Petra walked out of the room After Ren heard the lock click behind him he slowly opened the laptop and opened a file called ‘security camera’. Ren could see everything through the base security cameras. Hey Ren thought to himself I didn’t hack anything Comments are closed.
