Collection: Ages of Youth // the Halleaux Chronicled by: Ghasty Jehan stood looking over the chaos that was the backup generator in the Garage. He had already looked over the generator in the Lab. The only thing the Lab generator was good for now was scrap metal, and it seemed that the Garage generator was in the same predicament. Jehan heard a vehicle approaching and looked up. He recognized the vehicle as an Authority vehicle and held up his blunderbuss and pointed it at the vehicle. The vehicle screeched to a halt and was surrounded by Roanoke guards, including Jehan. Five people stepped out of the car. Guns lowered at the sight of three of them, but guns were still raised at the other two.
“It’s okay, they’re safe,” Xanthia, the driver of the vehicle reassured. The rest of the guards lowered their weapons. Lukas and Xanthia helped Mech over to a cot, and Aileen began to run routine tests. Xanthia left to go somewhere. Lacea pulled Lukas over to the side. “I would suggest steering clear of Eoin,” Lacea cautioned. “Why?” Lukas asked. “He’s still upset about the fact you almost got him killed.” “I should at least try to make amends.” “Good luck with that.” “Where is Eoin?” “That is a good question,” Lacea answered. Lacea held up the walkie-talkie and began to speak into it. “Eoin, this is Lacea, Xanthia and I are back with Mech, along with a doctor and somebody who wants to talk to you. Where are you?” Lacea spoke into the radio. “I’m in the conference room,” Eoin’s voice crackled through the radio, “send them my way.” “Follow me,” Lacea said. Lacea and Lukas walked through the halls until they got to the conference room. Lacea stopped Lukas before he opened the door. “I’ll be here in case either of you need help,” Lacea said. “Understood,” Lukas responded. Lukas took a deep breath and walked into the conference room. Eoin sat at a long table, along with a few others. Two of these people were Marius and Xanthia. Across from Marius sat a young man with black hair and skin darkened from time in the sun. He carried a few guns and knives. He wore blood red armor with black accents, with a matching helmet which sat in front of him on the table. This young man was Ren. “We have to expec-” Marius cut his sentence short at the sight of Lukas. “I’m sorry sir but we’re going to have to ask you to leave, you’re not supposed to be in here right now,” Marius spoke to Lukas. “Actually could you give him and I the room?” Eoin asked. “We might as well, I’ve already lost my train of thought,” Marius said. Marius got up and walked past Lukas, followed by Xanthia. Ren stayed put in his seat, glaring at Eoin and then at Lukas. Eoin glared back at Ren. “Well,” Eoin said impatiently. “Well what?” Ren asked, a tad bit annoyed. “Are you going to leave?” “I’m staying put.” “Suit yourself. You most likely won’t like what you hear,” Eoin said. Outside in the hallway Lacea, Marius, and Xanthia stood. Most of the dialogue between Eoin and Lukas was muffled, even when the two were yelling at the top of their lungs at each other. “Should we intervene?” Xanthia asked. “Only if it goes quiet all of a sudden,” Lacea responded. “Who is he?” Marius asked. “His name is Lukas Kenway, he was a friend of Eoin’s, until he almost got Eoin and I killed,” Lacea answered. “Ah, that explains a little bit of why they’re yelling,” Marius replied. They continued on for a few minutes before a third voice yelled. After the third voice yelled the yelling finally stopped. The door opened to show Ren, who at this point looked very exasperated. “It’s like dealing with toddlers,” Ren remarked, “you guys can come back in.” The three went back into the room and took their seats. Once they were all seated, Marius began again. “After the prison escape earlier, we must expect the Authority to come looking for you three and the other two. This in turn might lead them to us, which we need to avoid at all cost.” “We also must deal with the disappearance of Petra. Melody is somewhere in this building, and who knows when she’ll strike next,” Lacea interjected. “We might be able to do both at the same time,” Xanthia input. “And how might we do that?” Marius asked. “The six of us could split up to search for Petra, while we assign more guards to the wall, in order to be as much on the offensive as possible if the Authority finds us.” “That could work.” Marius punched a few keys on a small screen in front of him and then went back to the conference. “Somebody will get onto the guard thing, now all we have to worry about is the Petra and Melody issue,” Marius continued “We should split up that way we can cover more ground,” Lacea suggested. “Good idea, we’ll split up into three groups, each with a walkie-talkie. I’ll go with Eoin, Xanthia you’ll go with Lacea, and Ren you’ll go with Lukas.” Xanthia handed her walkie-talkie to Ren. “Do we have any information about this Melody?” Ren asked. “She is armed and possibly dangerous.” Marius answered. “Well what are we waiting for?” Mech asked. The group looked over at him, as he had just entered with the assistance of a crutch and Aileen. “Mech, you’re in no condition to help, you need to rest,” Xanthia said concerned. “Fine, I’ll make myself useful some other way,” Mech responded. He hobbled off, with Aileen in pursuit. “What happened to him?” Ren inquired. “He got shot and had to get his spleen removed,” Lacea answered. “Lovely.” “Let’s not waste any more time, we need to get searching,” Marius ordered.
